Chit Chatting with Bots. Why, how?

Since the early days of my team working on building enterprise chatbot, it became obvious that to win user adoption, a bot had to cover a large number of topics, many not directly related to the actual chatbot purpose. One typical example, the so-called “social chatting” (also called by some platform small talk) is an important part of the user experience, at least at the beginning of the interaction.
