Since the early days of my team working on building enterprise chatbot, it became obvious that to win user adoption, a bot had to cover a large number of topics, many not directly related to the actual chatbot purpose. One typical example, the so-called “social chatting” (also called by some platform small talk) is an important part of the user experience, at least at the beginning of the interaction. During this initial phase, the user will test the bot, question the “AI” capabilities and the personality of the bot. …

Twenty-five years ago, I was an intern at the Thales research center on the Plateau de Saclay, our french silicon valley. There I was under the supervision of a robust Ph.D. software engineer, François Valette, working on the NeuroClass research program, frequently interacting with Yann Le Cun on his work. He was programming a tool that was comparing the results of various AI classification models. At the time, the purpose of this classification was using the images of an embedded camera located at the tip of a missile, to figure out the exact type of the target, such that the…

Last June we booked a 3 days trip to attend the Chatbot Summit in Tel-Aviv. We were used to the various AI events in Paris as exhibitors, but it was our first event outside Europe, and one of the rare we were not exhibiting at. We were pretty excited to attend, to meet our peers, and it has been great. First time I really got to speak to other chatbot software CTOs, (in particular it was great meeting Alan Nicole from Rasa and Yi Zhang from Rul.ai, both CTO and co-founders of two other interesting players) to openly discuss thoughts…

After several years as the co-founder and CTO of a startup (Konverso), building an enterprise bot platform and ready-to-use bots for our customers and partners, I realized I was not actively using a virtual assistant for my own good! What would be the result ? Can I really find value for a personal virtual assistant that would help me in my daily tasks? This is the challenge I decided to take on at the end of this summer.
